Down at the Deep Oceans, there was a kind and gentle landlord, Sidney the Steadfast. She is a motherly seal who does not have a family of her own, but loves nature and its wonders. She often ran along back and forth the white sands by the ocean, watering the little greens here and there, and loves reading the Sun and the Moon.

One sunny day, there was a splash of water brushing against her skinny tail. Her lean figure was so still while staring at the horizon under the sunlight, that she didn't realize she was slipping away from the rocks under which she was sitting on.

There in front of her came Sissy the Silly - the baby dolphin with the vigor and a thirst for life. She was splashing up and down, jumping up and about, as if she's dancing like no one's watching.

"Who are you over there?" Sidney was in awe by the beautiful silhouette under the sun.

Up till she heard Sidney's voice then Sissy looked up, put on a smiling face that she's born to have, and with her zest, she said, "Oh! I'm Sissy and I'm very silly. Would you like to come play along with me in these blue waters? It's a really nice day, you know. Why just sit around and stare at the blank space?"

Sidney was really uplifted just by hearing Sissy's cheery voice.

She's just like a little child, she thought and smiled to herself.

And so they went on jumping up and about, come hither and thither, go round and round in circles, enjoying the moment of their lives.

Everyday before sunrise, before Sidney water those little greens by the Deep Oceans as she has always done so, she would go out and catch a fish or two for the silly Sissy, whom over time became very dear to her, and very close to her heart - just like a precious diamond, just like a little princess, treating her like her very own daughter.

As the lands over by the ocean have always been quite empty, Sidney the Steadfast has never had any major problems taking good care of the white sands and keeping them clean. But that one night, she burned some fire on the smallest woods she can find lying around - the ones that are dead and would never grow back again, still making sure that she's obeying the laws of nature.

Even though she's caught the cold fish, she believes nature has its beauty because of her true, motherly love, and she have that love for Sissy. On the fire she grilled some beautiful pink salmon while cooking along some seaweed as the side dish, all specially prepared for Sissy as soon as she comes back to the Deep Oceans at the end of the day.

When she came back, Sissy went shouting: "Sidney, oh Sidney! I know what I want to do! I want to stop just jumping around and would like to fly! I just saw my cousin up in the sky earlier today, and she was taut and so strong she remained as steady as an eagle. Please, oh please.... let me learn how to fly!"

Sidney was in no doubt completely surprised by the sudden rush of pizazz, just as Sissy has always brought about ever since she first came into her life.

"Well, let me meet that cousin of yours first before I let you go out there, ok?"

"Well, I think you'll be able to see her tomorrow, or the day after tomorrow, or the day after the day after tomorrow, or the day ... " Sissy kept on going on with her days full of hope as if she's never going to stop talking while munching along with the crunchy seaweed and the moist salmon in her mouth. It tastes sooo good.

Then the day came when Sissy went rushing against the current back to the white sands and told Sidney to look up to the sky.
"Look Sidney! There's my cousin! Isn't she wonderful?"

Having been reading the Sun and the Moon ever since she can remember, Sidney can tell that it's not a dolphin, much less a living thing. It's a man-made thing humans called aeroplane.

Sidney was greatly disappointed, and she didn't want to tell Sissy for what she's mistaken about because Sidney knew she would let Sissy down, so downhill that she might never jump around and about again. After watching Sissy jumping up from the blue waters higher and higher day by day, she knew that Sissy was so uplifted about the idea of flying.

"Yes, yes, indeed... She's very strong," Sidney murmured under her breath.

"Sigh... I wish she's as friendly as me to come back down here and teach me how to fly," Sissy said as she's staring up at the cloudy skies.

Then came another day when Sissy was jumping so high that a big splash brushed against Sidney's skinny little tail as she was sitting on those very same rocks she was sitting on when she first met Sissy. This time what hit her feet is not another dolphin, but a glass bottle with a message inside. She picked it up to read the message in the bottle.

Running here and there, I run free.
I run into a company, so I run the company on the run.
It is a rave run towards the runner's high.
Soon I see myself running in place, because in the long run,
Slow and steady wins the race.

Though it was anonymous, Sidney knew that the statement is like a crystal clear description of Sissy and her simple dream to fly. Everyday as she runs here and there on by the Deep Oceans to water the little greens, she knew she held some cage within her heart that is yearning for a dove inside. Sissy is now her dove, and she's still down, deeper down, on letting her go.

"Sidney! What is that you're holding?" Sissy came about splashing waters all over Sidney.

"Nothing, my dear... just something I found while you were out there playing around."

"Give me that!" Sidney snatched the bottle.

"Hey, you silly little kid! Return that to me right now or you'll have no dinner tonight!" Sidney was rushed over with a little anger.

Sissy was reading the message twice, thrice, and time and time again... Her fins are fidgeting around as if they're dying to burst and finally fly. Then she looked up at Sidney. She said with full of determination on her not-so-smiling face, "Sidney... You know what. I've been getting higher and higher day by day, and I think it's really time for me to go out there and face the deeper oceans. I think I am finally ready to fly into the blues, just like my cousin who flew across the blues. Do you want to come along with me?"

Sidney was rushed over with a little more anger, and she couldn't help but finally shout, "You silly. You want to know the truth?!'

"Huh?"

"Yes, the truth! That is not a dolphin that you see, but something else entirely! So just quit it and stay here!"

Sidney saw a drop of tear from Sissy's tiny right eye as she turned back towards the blue waters and swim along at the shallowest currents.

Sidney knew that she had just made a major mistake.

The next morning, just as she's always run here and there to water the little greens on those clean, white sands she's maintained every day of her life, she placed along the leftover waters to clean the fish she's caught in the buckets for Sissy's dinner that night. As soon as the night has fallen and the fish is nicely grilled, Sidney waited for a while before Sissy comes back.

She waited, and waited, and the heated salmon gets even colder than before it was cooked.

Where is Sissy?

And she kept on waiting...

And so days gone by without Sissy. Those days became months, and those months stretched into an even longer period of time that she's never counted days again without Sissy. Everyday, all she counts were the days she's had after she's met Sissy.

Those little greens she's watering everyday now only held Sissy's spirit, her little dove that has flown away from her cage.

So there it goes that Sidney is never again just reading the Sun and the Moon... Without Sissy the Silly, she's just the Sid without her ney, bending down on her knees and never sitting down on those very same rocks she used to sit down on ever again.
